GAME-CHANGING UPGRADES FOR MARIBYRNONG BOWLS CLUBS

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government would put $2.2 million towards upgrades for bowls parks in Maribyrnong.

This election commitment would include $1.2 million to go towards the redevelopment of the Cooper Street site for the Essendon and Buckley Park Bowls Clubs.

The redeveloped site would include three bowling greens, providing greater opportunities for barefoot bowling and other competitions.

This funding would also go towards a refurbished bar, commercial bistro and al-fresco deck, creating a community hub for use by both bowlers and the wider community.

A further $1 million from this announcement would go towards a new synthetic green and shade sails for Gladstone Park Bowling Club.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Jo Briskey, Labor Candidate for Maribyrnong:

“This announcement will be a game changer for local clubs, meaning bowlers and the wider community can enjoy these facilities year-round.

“The redevelopment of the Cooper Street site will deliver greater amenity for bowls clubs while providing a great new venue for hire for parties, weddings and other functions.

“Likewise, the upgrades at Gladstone Park Bowling Club will mean a better playing experience for bowlers.

“Labor is committed to building up our community and supporting our local bowls clubs.”
